About Growth Guidance Consulting

Growth Guidance Consulting was founded with a clear purpose: to support individuals, families, and professionals as they navigate life’s most important transitions.

From the shift between high school and college, to the challenges of completing a degree, to entering the workforce and beyond—these moments can feel overwhelming without the right guidance. Our work is centered on making those transitions more manageable, more intentional, and ultimately more successful.

Our Story

As a first-generation professional, I understand firsthand the complexities of navigating unfamiliar systems—academically, professionally, and personally. The journey is often filled with uncertainty, pressure, and a lack of clear guidance.

Growth Guidance Consulting was created to bridge that gap.

What makes this work unique is that it is both professional and personal. Built alongside my daughters, this consulting practice reflects a shared commitment to supporting others through growth, change, and self-discovery. Together, we bring not only expertise, but also a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by the students, families, and communities we serve.

Our Approach

We believe that successful transitions require more than information—they require support, understanding, and practical tools.

Our approach is:

  • Collaborative – We work alongside students, families, and organizations to meet their specific needs

  • Holistic – We consider academic, emotional, and social factors in every transition

  • Culturally responsive – We recognize and honor diverse backgrounds and experiences, including first-generation journeys

  • Practical – We provide tools and strategies that can be applied immediately

Why This Work Matters

Transitions are not just milestones—they are defining moments.

When individuals are supported during these times, they are more likely to:

  • Build confidence and independence

  • Persist through challenges

  • Achieve academic and professional goals

  • Develop a stronger sense of identity and direction

Our goal is to ensure that no student, family, or professional has to navigate these moments alone.

Why We Do This Work

The transition from high school to college can feel overwhelming—for both students and their families. Expectations change, responsibilities shift, and many are left trying to figure it out on their own.

For first-generation students and families, this journey can be even more challenging. Without a clear roadmap, it’s easy to feel uncertain about what comes next.

That’s why we created this work.

We believe every student deserves guidance, and every parent deserves support as their role evolves. Our goal is to make this transition clearer, more manageable, and less overwhelming—so students can move forward with confidence.

A Journey That Shapes the Way We Guide Others

I didn’t take a traditional path to higher education—and that’s exactly why this work matters so deeply to me.

I grew up in South Central Los Angeles as a first-generation student, navigating poverty and limited access to resources. Like many families, we didn’t have a roadmap for college, and I had to figure things out on my own.

I left high school and later earned my GED at 20. It wasn’t until I was 27 that I began my college journey—older than most, but determined to create a different future.

Step by step, I navigated a system that wasn’t always designed for students like me. Along the way, I learned not just how to succeed academically, but how to persist, adapt, and build confidence in unfamiliar spaces.

That journey eventually led me to earn my PhD.

Today, I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Vanguard University, a Master of Social Work from Cal State Long Beach, a Master of Public Administration from Cal Poly Pomona, and a PhD from Our Lady of the Lake University.

But more important than the degrees is the perspective I bring.

I understand what it feels like to be unsure of what comes next. I understand the challenges first-generation students face—and the questions families carry as they try to support their children through unfamiliar territory.

That lived experience is the foundation of Growth Guidance Consulting.

My goal is simple: to make the path clearer for students and families, so they don’t have to navigate these transitions alone.

Today, I’m proud to do this work alongside my daughters, combining our experiences to support students at every stage—from college entry to career readiness.

A Family Approach to Student Success

What began as my personal journey has grown into something we now do together—as a family.

Each of us brings our own experiences navigating higher education and career transitions, and together we’re able to support students at multiple stages of their journey.

From the transition into college, to academic success, to preparing for life after graduation, our work reflects the reality that these milestones are connected—and that students benefit from guidance that evolves with them.

As a family, we also understand the importance of trust, communication, and support. We know that behind every student is a family trying to navigate change, ask the right questions, and do their best to provide guidance.

That perspective shapes everything we do.
